Angel Reese speaks out as GPA suspension rumor at LSU women's basketball doesn't add up

LSU women's basketball star Angel Reese has spoken out amid widespread rumors that the Tigers suspended her because of her grade-point average (GPA).

It had been rumored that she had been suspended due to a low GPA, but in a tweet she appeared to cast doubt on the reports - which had been picked up by numerous outlets in America.

The NCAA handbook also suggests her absence is not due to her GPA, while Reese posted to her X account: "Don't believe everything you read.".

The NCAA clearly states that if a player is not academically qualified to play, "an institution shall not permit a student-athlete to represent it in intercollegiate athletics competition."

Reese, who was left home for Friday's game against Southeastern Louisiana, posted a picture to Instagram on Saturday night of an LSU basketball court.

It was unclear when the image was taken, but if it were current, it would suggest Reese practiced on campus. Again, that would not make sense if she didn't meet GPA requirements.
