Foods That Are Bad for Your Eyes

Pasta, Bread Bread and spaghetti elevate blood sugar. Blood sugar boosts eye pressure, damaging the optic nerve. Hyperglycemia causes cataracts, glaucoma, and impaired vision. Diabetes blinds most people over 20.

Sweet delights Candy contains inflammatory sugars. Inflammation may cause conjunctivitis, dry eyes, and problems concentrating. Sugar may cause macular degeneration, the leading cause of vision loss in those over 50.

Salty snacks Chips, crackers, and pretzels retain water. Blood vessel fluid may damage retinal cells. These cells may induce glaucoma.

Fried food Fries create AGEs. Chemicals inflame eyes and body. Inflammation lowers eye cell oxygen supply, impairing vision. Fried foods may also induce AMD.
