French Onion Pork Chops

French onion pork chops are a classic dish that is both flavorful and easy to prepare. They are perfect for a weeknight meal or a special occasion.

Preheat oven to 400 degrees F (200 degrees C).

Heat olive oil and butter in a large oven-safe skillet over medium heat. Add onions and cook, stirring occasionally, until softened and caramelized, about 20 minutes.

Stir in thyme, garlic powder, salt, and pepper.Add pork chops to the skillet and cook for 2-3 minutes per side, or until golden brown.

Pour in beef broth and wine (if using) .Bring to a simmer, then transfer the skillet to the oven.

Bake for 15-20 minutes, or until pork chops are cooked through. Remove from oven and sprinkle with Gruyère cheese.

Broil for 1-2 minutes, or until cheese is melted and bubbly. Garnish with parsley (optional) and serve immediately.

For a richer sauce, you can add a tablespoon of sour cream or cream cheese before broiling.

Serve French onion pork chops with mashed potatoes, rice, or roasted vegetables.
