Hero World Challenge: Brian Harman, Tony Finau share lead; but Tiger Woods steals the show

The biggest story of the day was Tiger Woods' return to competitive golf after an eight-month absence. Woods shot a three-over 75, but he said he was pleased with his progress.

I'm sore everywhere, but I'm happy to be back out here," Woods said. "I'm still a long way from being where I want to be, but I'm making progress."

American golfers Brian Harman and Tony Finau shot five-under 67s to share the lead after the first round of the Hero World Challenge.

Harman made six birdies, including three in a row on holes 13-15. Finau made five birdies and no bogeys.

Jordan Spieth is one stroke back after shooting a four-under 68. Spieth made six birdies and two bogeys.

Justin Thomas shot a two-under 70 to finish tied for eighth. Rickie Fowler and Tom Kim shot one-under 71s to finish tied for 11th.
