World's Largest Dogs

If you have a lot of space, want a dog for security, or just want a gentle, cuddly giant, these large dog breeds can be loving, protective family members.

But keep in mind that most large breeds are descended from old working or herding dogs.

Even though they may not be used in that way anymore, those traits are still a part of who they are.

Because of this, bigger dogs often need more training, space, and company than smaller dogs.

Despite their lion-like appearance, Tibetan Mastiffs are incredibly loving with their human family.

The dogs were developed to defend the people and livestock of the Himalayas from attackers.

The breed is still a fierce watchdog and protector but also enjoys lounging with family.

Tibetans, medium-energy dogs, need mental and physical stimulation to stay happy, healthy, and interested.
